10 Camping ideas for the Family

May 27, 2019

If you’re always on the lookout for new camping ideas for your family trips, continue reading to discover 10 creative ideas, that you may want to incorporate into your next camping trip.

10 Camping ideas for the family:

1. Pack a few solar lights to get around your campsite at night a little easier

If you don’t want to fumble around in the dark, when it comes to walking around your campsite at night, it’s well worth placing a few solar lights outside your tent, that will collect sunlight during the day and which will provide you with added light at night. All without the need for traditional electricity.

2. Cook foil wrapped hotdogs over your campfire

Who said that camp food had to be basic? Instead of simply placing sausages on sticks and toasting them over an open campfire, it’s a fun idea to wrap pastry around each hotdog on a stick and wrapping tinfoil over each hot dog, so that you can create gourmet hotdogs on your next family camping trip! There are also plenty of tools and small appliances you can find to cook different foods while camping. You can always try CampSmart for camping accessories that will be useful for your next trip.

3. Try cooking kid friendly baked potatoes over your campfire

Another campfire meal, that your kids will love are baked potatoes. Simply make a long cut down the centre of each baked potato before placing tasty toppings such as ham and cheese in your baked potato. Next wrap your baked potatoes in tin foil so that you’ll be able to cook them over your campfire.

4. Make giant smores instead of regular smores

Your kids will love using giant marshmallows to create oversized smores. If you want to get creative you can even purchase marshmallows which are shaped as hearts or stars or cartoon characters.

5. Pack an air mattress to make your family a little more comforting

Just because you’re embarking on a camping adventure, doesn’t mean that you have to rough it. If you want to sleep like a baby during your next camping trip, pack an air mattress and a pump in your car.

6. Make sure to pack a pillow for each member of your family

To bring a touch of home to your camping trip, you may want to consider packing a pillow for each member of your family. As sleeping with your head on the floor of your tent, isn’t a comfortable option.

7. Pack playing cards in your luggage

Without the distractions of electronics such as smart pones and TV, you may want to spend quality time as a family playing classic card games such as Go Fish and Old Maid. You can even play card games such as Snap by torchlight on your air mattress.

8. Organize a treasure hunt

Why not organize a family treasure hunt, where your kids will follow carefully drawn clues or riddles in order to find some treasure. Such as chocolate coins and inexpensive toys.

9. Pack a variety of sports equipment

You’ll love playing soccer and frisbee as a family, so remember to pack a few pieces of sports equipment for your next trip.

10. Pack glow sticks for your kids

If your kids are afraid of the dark, give each kid a few glow sticks, that will help them feel safer when the sun goes down.

So there you have it, 10 creative family camping ideas, that are well worth trying out on your next family camping adventure!
