Where Is Slots Gambling Illegal?

February 24, 2021

History can be a great teacher and when it comes to gambling, it tells us that if you ban gambling outright in society, it is taken over by unsavory characters and moved underground. This is when criminal elements start to give gambling a bad name. You may want to try playing at Thorslots.com.

Gambling is a form of entertainment and a revenue creator for the economy. However, it does come with its problems such as its connections with crime in the past and of course gambling addiction. Despite the tendency for bans on gambling to be counterproductive, there are countries in the world where this pastime that dates back to Ancient times, is still strictly prohibited.

North Korea

Communism is a political ideology that does not tolerate gambling or gamblers and it is also strictly forbidden in society too. North Korea is a bastion of modern day Communism and gambling is still outlawed throughout the country. However, there is a casino that is part of a guided tour for tourists and gambling can take place here and is only permitted for visitors to the country.

Qatar

Qatar has the strictest anti gambling laws in the world and all types of gambling are considered to be against the law. This means that sports betting and slots spinning will not be part of your leisure activities should you be visiting the country during the next World Cup.

There is however, a flourishing underground gambling scene and some people have managed to get around the government’s restrictions that have been set up to block all access to online casinos from other countries.

Lebanon

The government of Lebanon has the power to block access to online slots casinos but they can also control what casinos are allowed to offer gambling products to the citizens of the country. Online gambling is only allowed at designated online casinos. However, ships with casinos on them, regularly sail out into international waters where government laws no longer apply and gambling can take place freely.

Singapore

Singapore has a system that prohibits gambling except in special circumstances and this includes the very limited number of public casinos. Even land-based sports betting is prohibited unless it goes through the main gambling operators who are except from this ban and they include Singapore Pools, Singapore Totalisator Board and the Singapore Turf Club.

United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates have strict anti gambling laws and anyone who breaks them can face a jail sentence. This also applies to online gambling and the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority blocks all casino sites from being accessed by individuals.

China

China is the largest of all the countries that still live under communism and gambling has been illegal since the Communist Party came into power in 1949. Anyone caught gambling online can be prosecuted but accessing gambling sites is difficult as much of what is accessible on the internet in China is controlled by the government. Strangely, China is home to the biggest gambling resort in the world and Macu is a major tourist attraction and the only place in China where gambling is legal.
